What Is Osseus Surgery?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Osseus surgery is a dental procedure that treats advanced gum disease. The focus is on reshaping and restoring the bone structure that supports your teeth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A dental professional will access the bone beneath your gums and remove tissue that was damaged by infection or inflammation. The aim is to create a healthier oral environment, prevent further bone loss, and get you on the path to freedom from gum disease. It may also provide a stable foundation for your teeth and improve both the function and appearance of your smile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who Needs Osseus Surgery?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Osseus surgery is often recommended for people whose gum disease has not responded adequately to other periodontal treatments (such as scaling and root planing), as well as individuals with very advanced gum disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Signs that you might benefit from osseus surgery include persistent gum inflammation, deep pockets, or bone loss around your teeth. Your dental care provider will check your condition via a visual examination and advanced imaging technology. What to Expect During and After Your Procedure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There is no need to worry about pain or discomfort during your procedure. You will receive local anesthesia to keep you comfortable throughout the surgery, and if you are particularly nervous, you can request sedation as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your periodontist will make incisions in your gums to access the bone. Damaged tissue will be removed, and the bone will be reshaped as needed. Once infected areas are treated, the gums are sutured back into place to support healing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
